Chef is in the House

Standard

Well . . .

I have been wanting to do an apron and chef hat for Mr. M for a while now! Just waiting for him to leave the hat a top his little head long enough to make it more than a photo op! So basically these hats really have a similar hat construction, upon looking online at tutorials, they are all quite similar, the closing being where the adaptations really show!  However, if you really want some inspiration for fabric choices and a real practical closing for those growing little tots of yours: I found a great tutorial here at:  http://curlypops.blogspot.ca/2009/08/tutorial-how-to-make-chefs-hat-for-your.html

Now with Mr. M’s hat, his head measured at 51cm and I added 2 extra cm and really should have added a little more as I ended up with just the right amount for his one snap!  I figure though, not all is lost as he is only 2 right now and will really start liking more specific novelties, so this will be retired to his younger brother, and he will choose another fabric combination of his liking. Here are some shots I managed to sneak in!

Mr. M was pretty impressed with his fabric choice!

I think he is the cutest little chef I ever did see!

As for the apron, that’s really just a sit and think kind of project. I can proudly say I managed on my own just fine for this one! Hahah, I know, I know, it could have been easier if I found one online, but I really felt at this point, if I cannot sit and complete a project of my own, there really is no hope for the career path I am launching  myself into!! He has been playing with a set of pirate pillowcases that my mom picked up for me to do something with. So I decided to use these! Well one- I still have another one that may just be turned into a sun suit for Handsome H! I free handed an apron shape and had lots left over to use for the straps!  It took about 45 minutes with all the pressing.

So that’s it for my little Chef’s ensemble! Hope you check out Curly Pops blog too, love to credit where it is due! And with this hat– it is well earned credit 🙂
